Got Fear?

From my devotional Bible today... Something to ponder.... It is the devotional reading for Proverbs 8 &9

None of us likes to be afraid. We associate fear with strong, negative
emotions: dread, terror, anxiety, cowardice, panic, timidity, abhorrence,
revulsion, and despair. Fear generates a flight-or-fight response deep
within us. We avoid whatever makes us afraid whenever we can and fight
against it when we can't escape it. So what, then, does it mean to fear
the Lord? For those who do not know God, dread and terror of
punishmentare appropriate responses. But for those who truly seek knowledge of the Holy One, fear is transformed into reverence and
awe.

Fear of the Lord is the very basis of our worship. It inspires
within us reverence for God's majesty and power and illuminates the great gulf between our humanness and God's divinity. Fear induces us to obedience and service; it emboldens us to avoid sin and live a holy life. Fear galvanizes us to hate evil and treasure good. It quickens our hearts with worshipful respect for God and infuses us with the love of
God.

The wonderful Paradox of fear of the Lord is that this fear
ultimately frees you from all other fears. Fear of God gives you wisdom to know he is in charge, not you. It brings knowledge of his holiness-and
nothing can challenge that power. Fear of God brings understanding to all
other fears and gladdens your heart. 'Do not fear anything except the Lord Almighty. He alone is the Holy One. If you fear him, you need fear nothing else.' (Isaiah 8:13)
