email question

I recieved this in an email, but thought that it would be fun to do via blog...

my favorite foods:

1. Spaghetti and Meatballs. I love em! Especially with my grandmother's special meatball recipe. I really should make some soon. They are the ultimate comfort food

2. Sourdough Bread: Chewy, Crusty, and Amazing! I love it warm with some butter, or toasted with Marmalade, it is just an amazing food of amazingness.

3. Pears: When pears are in season I practically inhale them. They are so good when they practically melt in your mouth. I like the green or yellow skinned ones better than the brown, but will eat them all.

4. Pickled Jalepenos: I love them! I can't eat them on everything, but when I crave them, I will eat them in large quantities. At Dodger games I eat more Jalepenos with my nachos than I do nachos.

5. Chocolate Ice Cream: Preferably soft serve. You just can't get better than a simple but yummy chocolate ice cream.

6. Artichokes: I could eat them by the bushel. I never liked the heart as a kid, but now I like them. Especially good with Garlic Aioli...

7. English Breakfast tea: My hot beverage of choice. Yummy by itself with a bit of honey or sugar, or in a delicious latte from Coffee Bean.

8. Berries: So many things you can do with them.<3 Especially Blueberries! Yumms!

9. Soup: I love soup, so many varieties of the same food. I especially like chicken noodle, split pea, tortilla, and potato varieties.

10. Avocado: I LOVE Avocado! It is the best food ever!

This list was hard to make. But I think I may follow up with a 10 foods I hate list...

The Happiest Place on Earth...

Yesterday I went to Disneyland. It isn't like I've never been before, but I was really excited about going. And I think it was because I knew I was going to have a really good time.

I went with my friends Jessica and Michelle from work. And laughed basically all day.

It was really crowded when we got there, but most of the lines moved really quickly.

After we waited for Jessica to get her pass, we went and got fast passes for Space Mountain. Then we went to Pizza port and I ate a kids spaghetti and a salad (I am so over trying to eat less! I want to eat something amazingly bad for me right now!)

Then we went on Buzz Lightyear, Matterhorn, got fast passes for Splash Mountain, Winnie the Pooh and then we rode the train from New Orleans Square to Main Street because neither of them had ever seen the Dinosaurs. Then we went to CA Adventure where we rode Soarin over California, then we got stuck because of the parade so we went to the Tortilla factory. After that we went to see the bug show because we were still stuck by the parade. After that we had a snack break, where Michelle got her longed for churro. Then we went into the Sorceror's Workshop only to find out that I am Lady (which I find offensive), Jessica is Ariel, and Michelle is the Evil Queen when she wants to eat nice people for lunch...

Then we got in the worst line ever. The sign said 55 minutes but we awaited for over an hour and twenty minutes and were still nowhere near the beginning of the ride so we left. The ride? Tower of Terror.

After that we went back to get on Space Mt. only to discover that it was closed. So we wandered towards Splash Mt. making a pit stop in Frontierland. Then we rode Splas Mt. Then we went to...

The Tiki Room!

Which I love, Jessica likes and Michelle tolerates.

After that we watched the fireworks, did some last minute shopping and came home.

All in all an enjoyable day...

Oh and I purchased this:

I love it!

This one is cute!

This is part of the new Haunted Mansion 40th Anniversary line by SHAG... I want them all! They are Amazing!!!

In Case You are wondering...

So. It has been an interesting week. I am however, looking very much forward to Spring Break which I guess is officially started.

Friday night I came home from work and fell asleep. I didn't eat dinner, I didn't go online for hours. I went to sleep. At 7pm! I did wake up in the middle of the night but was apparently still ready to sleep because when it was time for me to wake up on Saturday for work. I really didn't want to.

Saturday I had a staff meeting at work. We had this most amazing banana choc. chip nut bread. I want to know how to make it. Or go buy like fifty loaves to keep in the freezer. Yes, it is that good.
I created a gator headband craft to match one of the stories from storytime.
I went to El Pollo Inka with Denise and Jessica, where I ate my amazing #8 no egg and put about a third of a bottle of the amazing green sauce on my food. I would put it on almost everything I eat! I love it! One day I will get the Chaufa and eat a whole bottle of it. It is a dietary goal. I will need many Inka Colas that day.
Went back to work and then from 3-5 cleaned out the craft supplies and toy giveaways section of the workroom. I laughed when I discovered that we have a whole basket worth of Harry Potter party supplies. I have corrupted the library. I am looking forward to the party we may or may not be having in July. I <3 Harry Potter.

I came home intending to stay in bed and read. Then one of my coworkers texted me to let me know that her check was already in and so mine probably was too. It was. I am so excited. So, I went out to dinner and the movies with Denise. I tried the new Buffalo Chicken pizza at CPK. It is not bad, but I would like it better if they put the celery on after it came out of the oven. It is probably my number 3 pizza on the menu after the BBQ Chicken Pizza and the Chicken Club Pizza. They are yummys. As always I enjoyed more than one glass of the glorious sugar free peach Iced Tea. It is amazing stuff!

Today I have Sunday School and Church, then I need to get some stuff done at home so that I can go to Disneyland tomorrow! I am going with some coworkers and it should be a lot of fun. I really want my back to co-operate with me though, because one of my co workers hasn't been in a really long time and I want her to have fun.

Then tonight is twenty-somethings bowling! I am bringing at least one and possibly two friends. It should be a blast.

Tuesday I am planning on spending the day around here getting some stuff (taxes!) done and then working in the evening.

Wednesday I am on a normal Wednesday schedule.

Thursday I am supposed to go see the German Cold War art Exhibition at LACMA with a friend from school.

Friday and Saturday I work all day.

I would like to squeeze a trip to the Aquarium in at some point this week, but it depends on how things go.

More details as events warrant! LOL!

Also, tomorrow is the LAST day to get in entries for the plastic egg challenge of the month. Try to wow me folks!

Challenge

Fandom Meme:
1) Comment to this and I will give you 3 people.
2) Post this meme with your answers.
3) Provide pictures and the names of 3 people.
4) Label which you would marry, shag, and throw off a cliff.

Denise gave me: Severus Snape (Harry Potter) , Remus Lupin (Harry Potter), and Carl (Van Helsing)

Marry:

Carl from Van Helsing. He mostly wins by default. Remus is already married, and I love his wife so why would I try to screw that up? And Severus would never be able to truly love me because he has never given up on his love for Lily. Carl loves Jesus, is intelligent, and funny. Now I just need to convince him to not become a monk.

Shag:

Other than Severus' enduring hotness, he is a good man inside... And let's be honest, his dark brooding ways make him the Sexy Sevy that we all love and adore.

Throw off a cliff:

I have no desire to throw Remus off a cliff, but if I have to then we'll throw him off on a full moon night and embrace that his werewolfy self will save him. I adore Remus... Let's throw Lord Voldy-whatsit off a cliff instead... oh I forgot when wearing a suit in the train station, he is hot too.... Darn.

trying day

Today was a trying day.

Not just a long day but a "try"ing day. As in let's try these aspects of your character to see what you will do.

I had to learn some new things today that I hope to never have to put to use, but at the same time, know that it is a distinct possibility.

I had to learn that sometimes you shouldn't listen to someone when they say they are okay.

I went from feeling slightly concerned, to worried sick, to feeling immense relief all within the period of an hour.

Tomorrow I will be at work and then school and I have a lot of work to do for school, so I hope I get it all completed. But then I will be at the last film of the International Women's Film Festival. Thursday I have a paper due and a midterm. Friday is a working day and so is Saturday. Sunday is church and then the 20 somethings bowling evening. It should be fun.

Just a reminder that you have until Monday to submit your plastic Easter egg entries for this months challenge... And images are acceptable!

Today I got a letter from Cal State Northridge. They want to work with me to complete my admissions profile.

I am in the process of writing my statement of purpose so I can finish my application to Cal State LA

I feel like making decisions about next year has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs and twists and turns. But I feel comfortable with the decision to go to grad school. I also feel comfortable with my decision to go for my Master's Degree in History. It is a longer road until I finish, and it leads to a more uncertain future. But I know that "My God shall supply ALL of my needs."

Spoiler Warning!

Last night I went to see Watchmen with Varian and Jessica. I was a little worried because I had heard that it was a horribly gory film with sex all over it.

Yes, it was gory. Yes, there were a few sex scenes. Would I recommend it to my teenagers? Not on your life.

But for those who are of the age and maturity to decide what they will and won't watch for themselves, I would like to point out some things.

What makes this movie is the development of the characters.

Dr. Manhattan: I really wanted to like this character more than I ended up liking him. He is a nice glowy blue color. Yes, he walks around naked, but it isn't that big of a part of the movie. I was honestly more interested in what was happening in the scene than I was in checking out his bits. He is basically all powerful, or at the very least has the powers of destruction and creation. He is considered"god-like" by many people in the film, but has his failings. He has become distanced from humanity because of his super powers.

Rorshach: A nut job who stands by his convictions. He is certain that some things are just plain wrong, and he is right about that, but in his efforts to stop the evils he perpetuates others himself.

Night Owl: The loveable dorky guy. He needs to face his fears in order to once again become the hero he once was. I don't love Patrick Wilson, the actor who plays this character, but I do find that this is my favorite character. He wants to do right and help people, but is much more content living a normal life. It is clear however, in the end that for him to truly live he has to embrace his past in order to save the present and forge a future.

Ozymandias: I called him out as the villain within seconds of him being on the screen. Although, his villainy is contestable, he is the character that would be labeled the villain if this film were more black and white, but he says he does what he does out of a desire to save the world, so it does address the concept of how one person's hero is anothers villain.

I ended up liking the film way more than I was anticipating.

My World...

I didn't really mean to come off as being so defensive in my last (non-verse of the month) post.

But at the time I was feeling really defensive and I guess it was apparent.

Oh Well.

Today the new library opens. We are very excited. It is beautiful.

Tonight I have a shin dig at school to be at so I won't be at church. But since this is my last semester at the greatest school in the world, I wanted to participate in a couple of events. I really am sad to be leaving, but yet excited to see what the next phase of life will bring too!

March Verse 2

"There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears."

Philippians 1:6 (The Message)

While I am not normally a fan of The Message Translation. I liked the way it put this verse.

This post makes no sense... But it is my blog!

Okay, here it is in all of its gory glory.

I took this weekend to pray and make some decisions. I am not going to share them here in my blog. In fact, if you don't know me in real life this post will make no sense to you at all, so you might as well stop reading now. Even if you do, it might not make sense but you know I rarely make sense anyhow.

I know that some of those decisions are going to make some of you, my dear friends, think I am insane.

I assure you I am not.

I know that there are some things I am sacrificing by having made the decisions I have made, and that is okay with me. It really is.

Please, if you are going to judge me, keep it to yourselves. I am not interested in condemnation from anyone. If you want to get all high and mighty and throw scripture at me, be forewarned, I have scriptures of my own to throw back.

If, on the other hand you truly care about me, just pray. This has been a long a difficult process, and my heart is still tender and bruised and would like not to be poked at for awhile.

Will you see any big changes in my life? Probably not. At least not for awhile.

I am coming home from what has been a cherished and God appointed opportunity to rest and totally just get it all out with my Abba.

My aunt is a saint for basically letting me come up and eat her food and sleep for long periods of time during the day, and not having any responsibilities shoved in my face, so that in the wee quiet hours, I could wrestle with my thoughts. I am blessed to have her in my life. And now she is trying to feed me again. I am going to come home weighing 300 pounds, I swear.

Daffodil Hill

This is me at Daffodil Hill. I felt like I was trying to be in that one scene on Big Fish. I love that movie.

Super Cupcakes...

So for this weekend's edition of Stacey's bloggy boredom buster we have some Hero and Villain Cupcakes... I just pulled these from google images. If you know whose they are and/or they are yours and you want to be credited let me know. I can tell you that I didn't make any of them!

Up first, the ultimate hero of British Kid's Lit.... Harry Potter of Course!

Then in honor of the obsession of one of my friends we have Watchmen cupcakes. If some anti-Walmart league wanted to adopt these they probably could.

Then we have The Joker. I personally prefer Jack Nicholson's version over Heath Ledger's. But to each his own.

Spidey, Batman, and Superman Cupcakes. I really like the coloring of the Superman ones, although he is one of my lesser-favorite Super Heroes. (I swear I just heard an indignant cry calling for me to be blacklisted as a Commie traitor)

Well, that's all for now folks, although if I don't find something to do soon, you may be seeing more posts of randomness today.

Today

I got my cap and gown today! I feel very official and such. And I get to buy a stole to wear because I am a member of Phi Alpha Theta. I also got to spend the morning with my friend Ashley who I haven't seen since December.

In embarrasing moments. I have been dealing with snot all day and it likes to fly out at embarrasing times.

Fly Away

So, I am officially flying out in the morning and will be back Monday evening.

I am excited.

I just have to get through today first.

Which includes the commencement fair. I will probably but not guranteed post about it later today.

I am off to get ready

Update

I am beginning to get ill, I think. I feel blechy.

I am also trying to organize a quick trip to my aunt's this weekend. I haven't seen her since July and this is going to be my last chance to visit, because my schedule for the next few months is going to be insane.

On top of getting to see my aunt, this will be an amazing opportunity to get away from all of the external noise, and kick it with Jesus. I have some really big decisions to make, and while I could totally seek Jesus here, I know that I get distracted easily and being in the middle of no where will help.

That means I need to find a sub for Sunday School, but I am sure it will all work out in the end.

I found out yesterday that I am now going to be working 20 hours a week. This is good, but I am having a hard time with fitting all of my new hours into my already packed schedule. It means I am working all day every Friday and Saturday, as well as more hours on Wednesday. This makes me cranky, but I need to start saving some money for next year.

Winter camp was good. I learned a lot, and I think God really spoke to our kids. I am excited to see what the future will bring.

And the winner is...

The winners of the first monthly challenge... Wait did I say winners...?Yes, yes I did...

There is a tie between Stacee Lianna who submitted a picture of the exceedingly adorable baby Caden and Susanna who submitted an amazing hand made Boom Roasted Sign made complete with burn marks.

All of my entries were amazing and delightful, and I am looking forward to seeing the entires for this months contest....

Winter Camp!

I was on here to see what exactly I had posted before winter camp last year, and I saw that I hadn't posted anything. What I did notice, was my post winter camp post from last year. I really want to do a follow up post but I am going to wait until I return to do it. This is mostly a public reminder for me to do so.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So. On to business.

Once again I am asking that you pray.

Pray that God speaks to the youth in a new way, that He grabs their attention and moves mightily this weekend. Pray for them by name: Travis, Kaleb, Tarah, Jessica, and Lizette. They each have travelled different journeys, and I ask that you pray that God meet them right where they are. And that they be open to the things of God.

Pray for traveling mercies, and cooperative weather.

Pray for the leaders of the camp to be open to the direction of the spirit.

Pray for our leadership that are going. for Nate, Lizzy, Kasey, and I. That we get some good bonding time with the teens that are going, and for God to use us to impact lives.

Pray specifically for Nate, that as he leaves Hattie and Caden at home, that he will be able to know that they are in good hands and not worry about them. Pray that Hattie has a smooth and hopefully restful weekend.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know I am excited, but because of some things going on in Stacey-land am pretty distractable right now. I will update soon after I get home, but have an insanely busy week ahead of me upon my return.

Today

is the deadline for the February Challenge of the month Submissions!

If you won't see me today, but have something, let me know by the end of the day, and we'll see if we can work something out. Other wise I shall be posting the winner on either Sunday or Monday night depending on how tired I am from camp.

And this month's challenge deadline is the 31st of this month. I have 2 entries already! And I really like my prize I have in store!

SpoilerWarning!

I am not about to give away any movie endings, but I am about to sound spoiled.

Lately I feel unappreciated. Not by any one person in particular, but by life in general. I feel like I am invisible to people, unless I am doing something wrong.

Why can't the good things I do be seen? Why is it that the only feedback I am getting is negative?

Oh Well,I shall have to suck it up.

My apologies for the angst.

It is the first...

{EDIT}

I am changing the challenge! I forgot that Easter is upon us....

One decorated plastic Easter Egg will be the challenge this month. Be as creative as you like, and I will accept photo submissions on this one.

The prize for March will be a suprize bag! There is some good stuff in it,but half the fun of plastic Easter eggs is the surprise inside!

Verse for March

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

I think that this is an exceptional verse for where I am right now.
