What's This

Listening to Christmas Music, Cooking some yummy lasagne for dinner, Decorating the tree, wrapping gifts, I think I may have just gotten in the holiday spirit... :) Finally!

I did however, not only brave the insanity that was Target this evening, but I walked the whole time. No magical electric cart for me today. (I usually grab one it makes it easier for me to shop without killing my back) I was originally upset, but I figured that I could do it, and that I would just sit down in the middle of an aisle if I needed to. But I made it. I probably shopped for about 40 minutes and then I was so done.

What is not a win, however is that they were sold out of the amazing 15 dollar crock pots, which is what I was after. Oh well, I got some fun stuff anyhow.

This year I have been attracted to the song O Come O come Emmanuel. It satrs out powerfully with the line about:
O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear.

And continues with amazingness such as:
O come, Thou Day-spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here;
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death’s dark shadows put to flight.

Tonight I was listening to the song and I do believe it was the first time I had actually heard the part about putting death's shadows to flight.
All I could think was WOW! That is so so powerful. I love my Jesus. He came:
To Ransom Captive Israel (and everyone else)
To Teach us the poaths of Wisdom
To Save Us from Hell and Give Us victory over the grave.
To put the shadows of death to flight.
To open wide our heavenly home;
To Make safe the way that leads on high,

And to be and do so much for us, it is the complete opposite of a wordly ruler who rules so that others may serve him...

The last stanza just hits me as appropriate for the day:
O come, Desire of nations, bind
In one the hearts of all mankind;
Bid Thou our sad divisions cease,
And be Thyself our King of Peace.

Amen!

Thats it for today!
